Each seed packet contains approximately 200 epazote seeds. They are tiny and should be planted by gently pressing into potting soil, with just a light covering, so they are exposed to sunlight.
Epazote is a perennial herb that goes dormant during the winter and emerges each spring to grow into a 2' tall bush with generous amounts of aromatic leaves. Epazote leaves are an essential ingredient in several Mexican recipes. They add a distinct resinous flavor, and they assist with digestion of beans, making them significantly less 'gassy'.
Our epazote is grown in one of our vegetable beds at our farm. U-pickers can come to the farm to pick the fresh epazote in the summer and fall. Everything produced at our farm is USDA certified organic by OCIA and the Real Organic Project.
